Thank you to the following 2008 paid members

  • Paige Scott
  • Martha Sponholtz
  • Barbara Thurston-Pagni
  • Barbara Forbes-Lyons

Please remember to bring your annual dues of $15 to the May meeting and be entered in a drawing to win either Studio by Sculpey Tools or a retail package of Amazing Mold Putty!

Special thank you to Paige Scott for a generous donation towards the purchase of polymer clay for the Lemoyne Art Education Center. We will be using proceeds from the guild for this donation, but additional funds are most welcome. Lemoyne has been very good to us and we want to repay their kindness with materials that support their arts education mission. Alternately we will accept unopened packages of clay or clay tools (child appropriate).

Supplies buy

We will be holding a supplies buy in May. Please bring your orders with you to the May meeting.   Contact Barbara for information. Payment due by our meeting on May 4.

We're moving on down the road!

The May meeting will be at our NEW home in the Southwood Town Center at the Beazer Home Welcome Center, on Merchant's Row. They have a marvelous community/meeting room that they have offered to us free of charge. There are two large tables, plenty of natural light, a large whiteboard and countertop space for storage/snacks, etc. At the current time we will not be able to use an oven for curing, but we will be working with them to find a suitable (and nearby) location where we could plug in an oven for curing. There are restrooms closeby, plenty of parking and we are walking distance to several restaurants and an coffee bar/restaurant.

Directions: Capital Circle Soutbound to Merchant's Row. Take a left. Continue straight after stopping at Four Oaks Blvd. The Beazer Welcome Center will be on your left, between Sharkey's Coffee and Subway. Enter through the main entrance, then continue towards the back to the meeting room.  Click here for a Google Map of the area .

Thank you, Paige for making these arrangements for us. We look forward to making new clay friends at Southwood.

Upcoming meeting dates/times. Themes to be announced (feel free to send us some ideas !)

  • Sunday, May 4 @ 1 PM
  • Sunday, June 1 @ 1 PM

As always, come anytime between the hours of 1 PM and 4 PM. After two meetings we will evaluate this location  based on member feedback.

March 2008 Meeting: Color Mixing
Written by Tallahassee Polymer Clay Art Guild
Wednesday, 06 February 2008

colorwheel.jpeg The March 2 meeting of the Tallahassee Polymer Clay Guild will take place at the Lemoyne Art Education Center from 1 PM to 5 PM. Feel free to drop by anytime during those hours!

The mini-class for March is Color Mixing. Learn the ins and outs of successful color mixing with Ellen Rumsey Bellenot. You'll get a head start on creating your own color library. Why would you want to do this, you ask? Well...have you ever made the most scrumptious purple in your life...only to run out of it 3/4 of the way through your project? Having a color library on-hand solves your problem, allowing you to recreate your scrumptious purple (or any other color) time and time again! Creating a color library also lets you see how a warm yellow affects a color differently than a cool yellow...and so on and so on!

This is a hands-on class and Ellen recommends you bring the following:

Premo clay three primaries (zinc yellow, cobalt blue and fuchsia), gold and a pearl or colored pearl, and white. Other than that, just a work surface, a pasta machine, a small cutter in any shape, and a skewer. If possible, condition your clay at home and bring it in sheets, ready to use.
